We have some big changes happening here at DAT.

If you haven’t seen already, the website is getting a supreme overhaul! Mary K is studying Arts Management at UMass, and thanks to her strategic planning class, we are filling up the pages with new text. Jesse has been working around the clock to make the updates a reality. So give the new site a spin, and please excuse our dust as things continue to get updated.

We’re going to Slovakia!! We are taking a team of highly talented artists through Slovakia for ten days in January to explore the culture and terrain and gain inspiration for personal projects. We are very excited!

Ecuador is in high demand and this summer we are preparing to deliver! Projects will include a Passenger Project to the Galapagos, a Teaching Artist Residency to Quilotoa, and a Mask Dance Intensive. We’ll keep you posted with new info!

Edinburgh! We’re heading there for the Fringe Festival!!! So many updates are on the way!

Lauren first travelled with us as an actor in the summer of 2010.  She enjoyed the ACTion project so much, she decided to stay for a second cast- our first actor ever to be in two plays during the same project!  She attended the company retreat in the fall and became the Producer of both the monthly Creative Lab and the quarterly Travelogue.  Although she is still a full time student, Lauren has found the time and energy to be an active company member.  She has traveled on two scouting projects to Ecuador, researching new and exciting communities and collaboration opportunities.

Have a happy birthday Lauren!  We’re so happy to have you as a colleague.

Jesse founded DAT in 2006 after working for years to find a way to blend Travel and Theatre… he added SERVICE!  Over the years, Jesse has contributed artistically to Dramatic Adventure Theatre as an Actor, Director, Playwright, Dramaturg, Teacher, Designer, and much more!

We are so grateful for Jesse’s creative input and we couldn’t do this without him.

The performance was in the first block of The Kennedy Center’s Page to Stage event which ran all Labor Day Weekend.  The play received a great response, and we had a great experience collaborating with Run of the Mill.

The Core Company Members have briefly discussed another workshopped reading this fall in New York City, but there will be more discussion about this and the rest of DAT’s coming year at the Company Planning Retreat next weekend.

Hello DAT Friends,

We wanted to take a minute to update you about our upcoming performance at The Kennedy Center.

On Saturday, September 4th at 2pm DAT will be collaborating with Run of the Mill Theater in Baltimore to produce a reading of a brand new play by our Resident Playwright, Jason B. Williamson.

This reading is FREE!!!

Some of our company members got together last night for an informal reading, and it was exciting to hear this new play come to life. The play is a new interpretation of an old Andean myth about The Condor. Dramaturg Christen Madrazo has done incredible work researching this Quechuan myth and Jason has done a terrific job retelling the story in a fun and current way.

The play is suitable for all audiences, so fans of all ages are invited to be a part of this adventure!

This is DAT’s first time returning to the Baltimore/DC area since our very first production, Voices from Zimbabwe.

Directed by DAT Resident Director, Kathleen Amshoff, this play is a true collaboration and will include actors from NYC and Baltimore.

If you are in the DC area this Saturday, we would love to share this “Indie Love Story meets Andean Myth” with you.

Jeremy has been with DAT since he traveled as an Actor with The Ecuador Project in 2008.  He has taken on many leadership roles as well as adding his unique perspective to our original play, “Flight 360″.  Jeremy is one of our West Coast representatives and has traveled on a scouting mission to Australia.
